Master Sansar Chand Trust holds Jammu Art & Culture Festival

JAMMU, Dec 23: Master Sansar Chand Baru Memorial Charitable Trust, in collaboration with Jammu University and CRPF, held  four-day Jammu Art & Culture Festival for all-round awareness for Art, Culture and Art Education in J&K besides celebrating the 156th birth anniversary of Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya.
The workshop titled “Vidya Daan – Maha Daan” was for all round support for Art education in the State of Jammu and Kashmir with active participation of over 600 students from all walks of life, such as students with special abilities, students from schools working with street children, Kendriya Vidyalays and students from the University.
School children from Model Academy, Viraj Bal Bhawan Street Children School and Boys Higher Secondary School participated in the inauguration. A short film on the life of Pt Madan Mohan Malaviya was also played and received much appreciation from the audience.
Six artists from all across the country,  namely  Poonam Tyagi,  Mrinal Dey,  Dhyan Pasika,   Ranjit Sarkar  participated  in the live demonstration of paintings in the event and   Javaid Iqbal from Sopore, Sringar and  Sahil Ohri from Jammu represented  the State of Jammu & Kashmir for the four-day event.
Paintings by artists from all over India were displayed at the Jammu University hall. The prominent were. Sabia Khan, Anil Gaekwad, Nilesh Vede and   Hemant Rao. The State of Jammu & Kashmir was represented by Sushil Bhola, Jitender Singh, Subhash Anand and Veer Sumli.
In the celebration programme for 156th birth anniversary of Malaviyaji, Kavinder Gupta, Speaker J&K Assembly, was the chief guest.   In his address, he commended the efforts of the trust in promoting the art and heritage of J&K, The guest of honour, R D Sharma, Vive Chancellor, Jammu University, also came forward to support the event and highlighted Malaviyaji’s work and the Benaras Hindu University being a model for all universities.
Anuradha Rishi, president, Master Sansar Chand Baru Memorial Charitable Trust, in her vote of thanks, stressed upon enhancing efforts to revive the rich art and culture of J&K.  She urged the community, especially students, the future of the country to dive deep into thought and come up with innovative ways to revive the culture heritage and art of J&K.
