Manohar alleges acute power crisis in Kathua

BILLAWAR, Sept 1: Senior Congress leader and former minister Dr Manohar Lal Sharma has expressed serious concern over frequent power failure in various villages and towns of district Kathua.
Launching scathing attack on DyCM and Minister in-charge Power Dr Nirmal Singh, Dr Sharma alleged that most of the area specially Billawar and Basohli suffer badly due to frequent power failure and unscheduled power cuts even more than 20 unscheduled cuts occurs a day.
Dr Sharma said that due to the power failure the Water supply schemes are affected badly causing another trouble to the people of the area. With this acute shortage of potable water in the area in this scorching heat is being experienced.
Cong leader expressed deep concern over the damage/burning of large number of electric transformers in different areas of district Kathua and said that the replacement of transformers is very slow due to the non availability of sufficient funds and deficient man power in workshops as well as different sub divisions of the district.
Dr Sharma further said that there are more than 93 transformers burnt in the district Kathua and most of them during two or three months which cause great hardships to the residents of the affected areas. The people are forced to come on roads and agitate against the Government and the PDD aggressively.
He pointed out that damaged 25 KVA transformer at Rajwalta is lying for more than one month; Patti Baggan 25 KVA since 4 months; Bhadwal 25 KVA more than 3 months; Keerian Gandial 100 KVA since 3 months; Irrigation transformer Khanpur Chitrala Colony Hira Nagar 63 KVA since 4 months and Towah Marhoon transformer was replaced after a span of 4 months even after repeated requests and after making public contributions for shifting of transformer to meet out loading and unloading labor charges. This is the state of affairs in PDD, he alleged.
