Manjit urges Govt to redress issues of agitating lawyers

SAMBA, Dec 1: Former Minister and District Congress Committee (DCC) president, Samba, Manjit Singh today appealed the Government to redress issues of the agitating advocates in the interest of people.
The former Minister was speaking at a monthly Congress workers meeting where he expressed his serious concern over the lingering-on of the agitation of advocates. “The advocates are protesting for the rights of common man and the Government must give ear to their demands,” said Singh while speaking at the party meeting in Vijaypur.
Extending support to the protesting lawyers, Manjit Singh said that the Government should leave adamant attitude and accept what is being demanded by the advocates in the interest of general public.
“People are suffering since courts are closed and no work is going on in view of the strike. People in large number facing problem and it does not seem that Government is keen to end the stalemate,” he said.
Referring to the local issue, Singh Geology and Mining Department has stopped work in their district which has added to the woes of people and hence, they have to buy construction material from Kathua. He demanded Samba district administration to allow mining in the district.
Expressing concern over the paddy crop, particularly ‘Basmati’, that has been damaged due to rains, he said that the Government should declare it natural calamity and help the farmers financially.
Others who address the meeting were Col Swaran Singh, Trith Bhagat, Block president vijaypur Mohan Lal Sharma, Block president Bachan Lal, Block president Bari Brahmana Baba Ram Bhagat, Bharat Bushan, Madan Lal Chalotra, Pushpa Raj, Sarpanch Vijaypur Joginder Lal and Ex- Sarpanch Balwant Singh Nagra.
