JAMMU, Oct 1: A man today made an alleged attempt to commit suicide by jumping into River Tawi in this winter capital of the State.
“A young man namely Mintu Gupta son of Puran Gupta, resident of H No 145, Janipur, this morning jumped into River Tawi from the main bridge and fell into the shallow waters,” police sources here said.
They said the flying squad deployed in the nearby area immediately rushed to the spot and rescued the man. “He got some injuries in the mishap,” police said, adding they have shifted the injured man to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu.
In this connection, a case has been registered at police station Nowabad and investigations started, police further said.
