LAWDA mismanagement

Lakes and Waterways Development Authority, a State sponsored organization, is once again in focus for its endemic corruption, imbecility and a drainage on the resources of the state. A case against this organization is pending with the Divisional Bench of the State High Court which is probing into charges of corruption and mismanagement against some employees of the organization who are reported to have amassed wealth disproportionate to their genuine income. The Court had asked for a status report which the LAWDA has submitted. Commenting on the report, the Divisional Bench expressed its deep displeasure that the report was not comprehensive and satisfactory and left many gaps in the narrative it presented. The Court regretted that the LAWDA was not at all moving its finger to respond to important projects meant for conservation of Dal Lake despite availability of funds. The Court regretted to note that had Commissioners (Court Commissioners) not inspected the STP, their status would not have been brought to its notice. In the said background VC LAWDA was directed to prepare Detailed Project Report (DPR) for establishing new STP at Telbal and upgrading existing STPs. Nothing worth the name has been done till date. Expressing its unhappiness over how irresponsibly LAWDA was behaving, the court sought compliance report from it and other stake holders  with regard to acquisition of structures, establishments of STPs, installation of CCTV cameras, development of Rakh-e-Arath; retrieval of land after acquisition with Lake area and added to water expanse in famous Dal Lake and directed Vigilance Organization to conclude the preliminary enquiry against those  LAWDA officials who are alleged to have accumulated the funds by illegal means.
We hope that the Honourable Court will leave no stone unturned to bring the defaulters to book and make it sure that no body charged with corruption escapes the steel grip of the law of the land.
