KVM delegation calls on DC, highlights demands

KATHUA, Dec 13: A delegation of Kathua Vikas Manch (KVM) called on Rohit Khajuria, Distt Development Commissioner, Kathua here, today and apprised him of various demands of the people of the area.
The delegation, which was led by Prof. Ram Murti Sharma, president of the Manch stressed on most urgent and need based development related issues of Kathua. The members of the Manch demanded widening of  link road from Tangri Palace to Housing Colony Kathua and development of strips along Kathua Canal from Tangri Palace to Housing Colony through Departments of Tourism, Parks, Floricultural, Social Forestry etc; Construction of a Flyover on National Highway A1 from Hatli Mode to Kalibari, Kathua and  establishment of MCCH Hospital Kathua for which DPR’s are under process and NOC has been issued for transfer of land of Government Girls Higher Secondary School and Government Middle School Kathua to Mahatma Gandhi Child and Maternity Hospital Kathua.
They also demanded installation of electric lights in the divider portion of  link road from Sankat Mochan Shiv Temple, Shastri Nagar to Shaheedi Chowk Kathua;  setting up of the parking zones, toilet blocks and purified water units near  Shaheedi Chowk, Mukerji Chowk and D.C Office, Kathua and early commissioning of Inter State Bus Stand, Kendriya Vidalaya & Housing Colony at Kathua.
Most of the members emphasized upon tourism promotion at Baba Sidh Goria  Shrine, Rakh Sarkar Sallan through Billawar Development Authority and geographical distribution of area below National Highway in the existing Development Authorities, construction  cum repairs of lanes and drains within the limits of Municipal Council Kathua and  provision of community bathrooms for ladies at Bowlies, Ward No. 02 Kathua and provision of an additional entrance for Government Degree College, Kathua.
