Kotwal given tearful adieu

BHADERWAH, Apr 10: The veteran BJP leader Daya Krishan Kotwal was given tearful adieu today. Thousands of people drawn from all walks of life attended his funeral procession. As his mortal remains were consigned to flames the Sher-e- Bhaderwah and Sher-e- Jammu Amar Rahey slogans rent the air.
The funeral pyre was lit by his son Shekhar. It was for the first time in history of Bhaderwah that such a respectable homage was paid through equal participation of two dominant communities Hindus and Muslims to the departed soul. The mourners declared him that he was not only a lion of Bhaderwah but entire Jammu region who throughout his life worked for probity in public lire and strengthening the bonds between the two communities.
They also recalled his role when militancy was in peak to stop migration of minorities from erstwhile Doda district. The people irrespective of their political affiliations attended his cremation. Besides the local leaders of the Bhaderwah top BJP leaders from Jammu also participated into the cremation.
The  BJP leaders from Jammu who participated into the funeral procession included state Party chief Jugal Kishore Sharma, Leader of Legislative Party Ashok Khajuria, Party general secretary, (Org) Ashok Kaul, National Executive Member Shamsher Singh Manhas, chief spokesperson and National Executive member, Dr Jitendra Singh, senior vice president Chander Parkash Ganga, Sat Sharma, Suresh Sharma, Pawan Gupta, Pawan Khajuria, Yudhvir Sethi and Munish Sharma besides the members of the administration and judiciary besides the members of district administration and bar Association.
The members of Bar Association from Jammu also attended the funeral procession. Meanwhile Kashmir BJP held a condolence meeting at Srinagar in which rich tributes were paid to Mr Kotwal.
