JAMMU, June 3: Notwithstanding the Jammu University administration’s announcement of conceding their maximum demands, the protesting Class-IV employees and Casual Labourers today not only continued their ongoing strike but also threatened to further intensify the struggle.
As JU Safai Karamcharis have also joined the protesting employees, the entire campus was giving a filthy look with garbage spilled here and there, particularly in the administration block.
Fourth phase of the agitation began today with closure of Hostel Mess due to boycott of work of the cook and other staff there. The Non-Gazetted Employees Union, which is spearheading the agitation, also announced non-cooperative movement on the campus from today.
While addressing the protesting employees, president of NGEU, Krishan Chand threatened to include the university security staff in next phase of the ongoing strike. He lambasted the JU administration for trying to mislead media by claiming that maximum demands of the protesting employees were conceded.
General secretary of the NGEU, Vijay Kumar reiterated that there was no question of calling off the ongoing strike till their main demand of regularization is conceded.
The protesting employees held demonstration on the campus and raised slogans against the JU authorities.
