JRC Home starts 1st ever smart class for hearing impaired

JAMMU, Jan 4: The JRC Home for Handicapped Udhey-wala has introduced digital education by installing first ever smart class in J&K for hearing impaired inmates of the institution. Donated by Extra Marks Education Foundation, one of the leading promoters of new age education in the country, the multimedia based facility will go a long way to strengthen the understanding of fundamental concepts. The smart class was inaugurated by the former HoD, Computer Science Department of University of Jammu, Prof Lalit Magotra,   in presence of Nidhi Soni, Manager Extra Marks, Chhatrapal, Honorary Secretary of JRC Home and hearing impaired children of JRC Special School.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Magotra said that technology based education for specially-abled children would empower and serve them better to make them future ready.
Nidhi Soni disclosed that EEF has arranged smart class along with curriculum-aligned multimedia quality digital contents in Hindi and English from classes KG to twelve which will be available for 36 months for unlimited usage. EEF has also arranged the training sessions for the teachers of JRC, she added.
The Secretary of JRC said that the hearing impaired children were worst sufferers as no new age digital learning solutions or technological support is available to them in the State.  The smart class technology will go a long way to ease the process of learning for them. Multimedia based teaching technology would be appealing to hearing impaired students who had been taught through the traditional sign language. He thanked Pasricha for his contribution on behalf of Extra Marks Education Foundation for bringing the light of quality education to the hearing impaired inmates of the institution. He also thanked Poonam Singh Jamwal, CEO EEF for her interest in the education of HI inmates.
Those present on this occasion, included Satish Sharma, ,Joint Secretary JRC, social activist Vikas Deewan, Ashutosh Sharma, CEO ICDRC , M G Padha , Dr Sukhpal Sawhney , Shaka Syal, Neena Rishi, Pritam Singh and others.
