Issues of OBCs echoed in Vishwakarma Sammelan

JAMMU, Mar 25: One day ‘Vishwakarma Maha Sammelan’ was organized by Pradesh Vishwakarma Sabha (PVS) here at Vishwakarma Temple Complex Digiana under the chairmanship of Shashi Verma, Sabha President.
Justice R.C Gandhi was the chief guest while Brig (Dr) Vijay Sagar Dheeman and Labha Ram Gandhi were the guests of honour on this occasion.
People from all parts of Jammu province including children and women participated in the Sammelan.
On this occasion newly elected Panches and Sarpanches were honoured and community magazine ‘Vishwakarma Reporter’ was also released.
Chief Guest while presenting mementos to the Panches and Sarpanches congratulated them and hoped that their leadership will go a long way for the welfare of society.
Various speakers including Labha Ram Gandhi, leader of West Pakistani Refugees, raised the issue of 2 per cent reservation to OBCs in J&K against 27 per cent upheld by the Supreme Court of India.
The speakers regretted that recent exercise carried out by the Government totally neglected the issue of OBC reservation, which is pending since 1993.
Sabha reiterated its demand of ‘Gazetted Holiday’ on Vishwakarma Day.
