Hunger strike by Contractual Lecturers enters 30th day

JAMMU, Mar 15: The  ongoing hunger strike by Contractual Lecturers (10+2), who are demanding regularization, entered  into 30th day today.
One of the senior Contractual Lecturer  Vinod Kumar, who was on fast unto death and had been shifted to GMC Jammu on Tuesday in view of his critical condition, was today discharged from the hospital. On the other hand, condition of  Seema Rajput,  who is also on fast unto death since March 12, is deteriorating day by day.  Government Doctor today visited the venue of hunger strike and medically examined her.
Contractual Lecturers Vijay Kumar, Amrit Paul, Balvinder Kour and Ranjan Bala, who  began their chain hunger strike on Wednesday,  also threatened to go on fast unto death  if their demands are not conceded at an earliest.
The agitating Contractual Lecturers are demanding their regularization as per the Civil services Special Provision act 2010, a policy framed for the regularization of all the Ad-hoc/ Contractual/Consolidate employees after rendering seven years of services.
While addressing  the protest dharna,  Arun Bakshi,   State president of (10+2) Contractual Lecturers Forum appealed the Government to shed its  apathetic attitude towards the Contractual Lecturers  and adopt sympathetic way to settle the problem of the highly educated Contractual Lecturers.
Meanwhile, a delegation of Contractual Lecturers called on J&K Legislative Assembly Speaker Kavinder Gupta at his office chamber in Civil Secretariat  and apprised him of the demand. The Speaker assured to take up their case with Education Minister for early solution. Kavinder  also assured them that he would  do his utmost efforts to get the case solved.
