SAMBA, Feb 27: Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga today kick started works for deep drainage system at Swankha Morh in Vijaypur.
The work comprising 400 meter deep drain is being executed by Town Drainage Division under drainage scheme and is estimated to cost Rs 39 lakh.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that it was a long pending demand of the local people as they had to face problems of water logging even after light rains. He directed the executing agency to ensure use of quality material and asked the people of the area to closely monitor the work.
Locals of the area also raised other issues and sought immediate redressal of the same. The Minister assured the people that end to end black topping of the local road will be taken up with concerned department. He also directed Irrigation Department to make adequate provisions for water discharge in the local canal.
Ganga said that several developmental works have been initiated for the betterment of the people and it is the responsibility of the Government to meet their expectations.
Executive Engineer Town Drainage Satinder Rana, AEE Suresh Kotwal and other concerned officials were also present on the occasion.
