Fortis Escorts in collaboration with Maxx Lyfe conducts CME

JAMMU, Nov 11:  Fortis Hospital New Delhi,  in collaboration with Maxx Lyfe Hospital Jammu,  organized CME in Jammu  wherein Minister for Health & Medical Education,  Bali Bhagat was the chief guest,
MoS for Health & Medical Education,  Aiesa Naqash was the guest of honour while Dr Vivek Vij,  Director Fortis Institute for Liver and Biliary Sciences,  was the guest speaker.
Dr Vivek Vij informed the doctors  that liver transplant is giving fresh lease of life to thousands of patients with liver diseases. The steep rise in liver-related problems in recent years makes it even more crucial for patients to have access to early diagnosis, he added.
“It is no surprise that liver and biliary diseases are affecting those from Tier II cities and the disease trend is growing rapidly. We have regular patients from this region who are affected from alcoholic liver leading to liver sclerosis and those affected due to Hepatitis B. The trend has grown by 4-5 times over the past five years and close to 200 patients at various stages of the disease, are travelling to the capital city for treatment/transplants,” he explained.
Bali Bhagat appreciated the efforts of the organizers in conducting such type of CME in Jammu and assured his support for such activities while Aiesa Naqash said the priority of the Government  is  to ensure every patient should get proper and quality  health care in the State in  irrespective of geographic barriers. Bali Bhagat invited Pvt Corporate hospital to come in J&K State and assured that all type of help will be provided by Health Department.
Director Maxx Lyfe Hospital Jammu,  Dr Dushyant informed that Dr Vivek Vij is going to start OPD services in Jammu at Maxx Lyfe. Dr Vij has conducted over 1,000 successful liver transplants with as high as 98 percent success rates. He has also been bestowed with prestigious awards for his contribution in this field.
CMO Jammu Dr Sanjay, many faculty members from GMC Jammu and doctors from Health Department attended the CME.
