Former MLA Jeelani dies

SRINAGAR, June 18: A former five time legislator Peerzada Ghulam Jeelani died here.    A member of the Constituent Assembly of Jammu and Kashmir, Peerzada served as MLA for four consecutive terms from 1951 to 1967.
He was over 80.

Governor N. N. Vohra has condoled the sad demise of Peerzada Ghulam Jeelani, former Member of J&K legislative Assembly, who had the distinction of serving as a Member of the Constituent Assembly of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Governor expressed his sympathy with the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.
Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti  has also condoled the demise of veteran political stalwart, Peerzada of Pampore who left for heavenly abode last evening.
Lauding the contribution of Peerzada   in the religious, social and political spheres of Jammu and Kashmir, Ms  Mehbooba said his immense contribution in social and economic uplift of his people would be remembered long.
Expressing solidarity with the bereaved family, the Chief Minister prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.      Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly also paid tributes to Peerzada and observed two minutes silence today.
