Flood hit people protest, demand compensation

SAMBA, Feb 1: A large number of people of Ramgarh area today protested against non payment of compensation to the flood affected people of the area.
The protestors demanded immediate release of compensation for damaged crops etc during the floods and rains last year.
Later a memorandum was handed over to Tehsildar Vijaypur demanding release of  compensation to flood as well as rain effected people of border area of Ramgarh.
It said during last year Monsoon and the heavy rains the people of border areas lost their cultivated lands, their houses collapsed, community paths and way to fields were damaged while small bridges were washed away.
After a lapse of many months the compensation was not given to the effected peoples of the Ramgarh area.
The irate people gathered at Tehsil office Vijaypur under the leadership MLC Rani Gargi Bloria and submitted memorandum to Tehsildar Vijaypur urging him to forward the same to Government for redressal of their problems as soon as possible.
Talking to media Rani Bloria also appealed government that the villages lying with the range of five km from Kathua to Pargwal along the Indo-Pak border may be granted RBA status given the fact that the majority of inhabitants of these villages are refugee uprooted from the Chhamb sector.
