DODA, May 22: Police booked five persons under Forest Act and seized 91 scants of Cedar and Pine from their illegal possession.
Amit Bhasin, Additional SP Bhaderwah, along with SDPO Bhaderwah and SHO PS Thathri conducted a series of raids in Tehsil Chiralla and seized 145 scants of Cedar and Pine from illegal possession of locals.
Acting on a specific information, a police party under the whole supervision of SSP Doda, ZN Manhas conducted raids at villages Gosti, Zilapani and Sheikhpora of Tehsil Chiralla and seized six Cedar scants from the house of Abdul Razak Batt son of Sikander Batt of Gosti, 10 cedar sleepers from the house of Talib Hussain son of Dina Bhat of Zilapani and 22 sleepers of Pine tree and 05 scants of Cedar from the house of Zarief Malik son of Suban Malik of Zilapani.
22 scants of Pine tree were also seized from the house of Khursheed Ahmed son of Gh Mohd Batt of Gosti while 26 scants of Pine tree were seized from the house of Tariq Sheikh son of Mohd Hanief Sheikh of Sheikhpora.
In this connection, five separate FIRs under Section 379 RPC, 6 Forest Act stands registered at PS Thathri.
