Five arrested for bovine smuggling bids, 55 animals rescued

RAMBAN, Aug 9: In four separate cases, police today arrested five persons and rescued 55 bovine animals being smuggled by them.
“During routine naka checking at Shan Palace, police today at about 2 pm stopped a truck bearing registration number JK02W-3864 and a Tata Mobile bearing registration number JK19-1846, which was on their way towards Srinagar from Jammu. During checking, 13 bovine animals were found loaded in the truck while seven in Tata Mobile, which were being transported towards Kashmir without any permission”, police sources said.
They said that both the vehicles were seized and driver of the truck and his associate namely Mohd Din son of Jamal Din and Gafoor Ahmed son of Janelle Din, both residents of Parnote (Ramban) were arrested. The driver of Tata Mobile namely Shabir Ahmed son of Ghulam Quader, resident of Kanga (Ramban) was also arrested. Two separate FIRs under Section 188 RPC 3 PCA Act were registered in this connection at police station Ramban.
A load carrier bearing registration number JK19-4571 was also stopped at same naka by Ramban police. On checking, five bovine were found loaded illegally in the truck. The vehicle was seized and driver of load carrier namely Mohd Din son of Jamal Din, resident of Parnote (Ramban) was arrested. In this connection, a case FIR No 111/2017 under Section 188 RPC 3 PCA Act stand registered in police station Ramban.
In a similar case, today at about 5:30 pm during routine naka checking at Nashri, a truck bearing registration number JK02BD-4086 on way towards Srinagar from Udhampur was stopped for checking. During checking, 30 bovine animals including eight cows, 20 oxen, one buffalo and one bull were found loaded in the truck. The vehicle was seized on the spot and driver namely Mohd Altaf son of Mohd Shafi, resident of Watrasoo (Anantnag), arrested. In this connection, a case FIR No 42/2017 under Section 188 RPC 3 PCA Act stands registered at police station Chanderkote.
