Fake currency racket busted, one arrested

RAJOURI,  Mar 5:  With the arrest of one person,  the police claimed to have busted a racket of a gang  involved in circulation of fake currency in Rajouri district.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Yougal Manhas termed this as major success and said that speedy investigation is going on in this case to unearth all the links of this racket and to put the accused behind the bars.
SSP informed that a specific input was received by police recently that some people are involved in some unlawful activity after which a special team was constituted which comprised of officers including DySP Operations Rajouri, Sukhdev Singh, SDPO Thanamandi Iftikar  Chowdhary and SHO Thanamandi Nazir Ahmed while on the basis of the inputs, a trap was laid under the supervision of Addl SP Rajouri, Mohd Yousuf.
” One of the suspected persons was intercepted in this trap at Khablan village on Rajouri-Thanamandi Road and during his search, police recovered some cash which during investigation came out to be fake. The man was arrested from the spot, “SSP said identifying the accused as Sagheer Ahmed Chowdhary, son of Nissar Hussain, resident of Dodassan Bala village of Thanamandi in Rajouri district.
29 fake currency notes of  Rs 500 denomination were recovered from the said accused with total amount of fourteen thousand and five hundred rupees.
SSP added that so far in the initial investigation of this case, names of three persons of Rajouri have came to fore in the racket and their search has been started and raids are going on to nab them.
A case FIR 19/2018 US 489-B, 489-C RPC has been registered in Thanamandi Police Station. Further investigation was in progress.
