Ex-Policemen League projects issues of retirees

JAMMU, Feb 10: Ex-Policemen League District Jammu projected various issues pertaining to welfare of the retired policemen in a meeting held at District Police Lines, here today.
The meeting was presided over by Chairmanship of KS Sambyal, DySP (retd) and President of the League.
The speakers expressed that some of the retirees are in the grips of serious ailment requiring costly treatment and desired that their parent department should come forward for their help.
They demanded enhancement in medical allowance from 300 to 1000 per month.
The meeting decided to approach DGP J&K and IGP Jammu zone for providing accommodation to the office of the League.
The meeting also demanded on spot payment of Rs 10,000 in case of death of a Police officer/official and District SSPs may be authorized to sanction the amount for meeting the expenses on last rites.
The members demanded that all the SHOs may be directed to enquire about the health of retired policemen and sufficient medicines may be kept available in Police Hospital to fulfill the requirements of the retirees suffering from various diseases.
Prominent among others who participated in the meeting included RK Bali, VP Gupta, Hari Chand Bhagat, Gulzar Ahmed (all retired SPs), Jawahar lal Gupta, C. Rewal Chand, Virender Bhasin, Mohd Saleem, Surjeet Singh Jamwal, Joginder Singh Jmawal, Kasturi Lal, Payar Singh Katoch, HL Mehra, Suleman Sadeeqi, Balwant Rai Choudhary, Swami Raj (all retired DySPs), Dharam Dass, Nanak Chand, Dhian Singh, Ved Raj Bali, Shamsher Bhagat and KP Singh (all retired Inspectors and Sub Inspectors).
