Ensure all facilities to people: Shabir to officers

SRINAGAR, June 18: Minister of State for Transport, Power and Forest, Shabir Ahmad Khan today called upon the transport authorities to take necessary measures for plying passengers’ vehicles on routes of Nowshera and Rajouri for convenience of passengers. He also directed for intensifying surprise checks for controlling overloading and stressed that strict action should be taken against those drivers who violate the traffic rules and regulation which causes road accidents especially in rural and hilly areas.
These directions were issued by the Minister to the officers during the meeting convened at Nowshera, Rajouri.
Several public importance issues were discussed in the meeting and Minister instructed officers to redress people’s problem on priority as providing improved basic facilities to the people was commitment of the Government.
Reviewing the functioning of Power Development Department, the Minister instructed officers to complete all electric works well in time for early benefit to the people. He said though with the upgradation of grid station Kalakote, the power supply in Nowshera Tehsil also improved yet there is need to do more in the area. He said the left over habitations of the Tehsil would be provided electricity under revised RGGVY programme.
The Minister asked Rural Development authorities to issue job cards to all deserving persons under MGNREGA and ensure completion of works under the programme well in time.
The Minister directed forest officers to stock timber at all sale outlets well in time for distribution among deserved consumers with priority to those whose sanctions were not operated last year also.
The Minister also instructed agriculture functionaries for keeping available adequate stock of fertilizers and high yielding seeds in the area for peasants and also impart latest know how of cultivation to the farmers for better production of different crops.
The Minister also had a meeting with party workers which among other attended by former Minister and MLA Nowshera, R. C. Sharma and former Minister Thakur Puran Singh.
The meeting discussed threadbare various issues related to development of Nowshera.
The Minister threw light on the initiatives taken by the Government for all round development of hilly and border areas. He called upon workers to work with utmost dedication for the welfare of the people.
