Dr Dawa concludes 2 day tour of Bogdang-Turtuk area

LEH, (LADAKH)  Dec, 11: The Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Leh Dr. Sonam Dawa Lonpo on the second day tour of Bogdang-Turtuk area today met with the people of Turtuk village. The main objective of his visit to the area was to know the developmental aspirations including status of basic facilities being provided to the people living at the Indo-Pak border so that their genuine demands could be reflected in the forthcoming district plan.
At Turtuk people demanded opening of Degree College in the area in view of the very good roll of students in all the educational institutions in the area. They also demanded Tehsil status for Turtuk, earliest completion of link and internal roads in Turtuk and Tabay Nallah road which is one of the long pending demands of the village and early and timely filling up of all the vacant posts of lecturers in Higher Secondary School Turtuk.
Other demands put forth by the villagers were protection bunds along the Turtuk nallah which is one of the flood prone stream in the Nubra region, opening of the proposed road from Turtuk to Hanu, earliest completion of revenue records of various villages of the area, early commissioning of Hydel Projects being executed through LREDA, issuance of Actual Line of Control certificates to the people and facilities for preparation of Adhaar Cards.
For conservation of rich Balti culture and language, the people of Turtuk, Thang, Takshi and Chulungkha in one vice demanded posting of Bhoti language teachers in all the schools of their villages.
Responding to the demands of people and delegations, CEC Dr. Dawa said that present council irrespective of political affiliations is giving top priority for development of  far-off villages specially living along the border. In order to ensure uniformity development of all the regions of district, the present Hill Council has initiated some new and innovative changes in the upcoming district plan and urged people’s participation and cooperation in creating positive work culture and congenial environment so that aspirations of the people could be addressed at the earliest, he added.
He further said that with the execution of tourism promotional projects under Nubra Development Authority in the Nubra region, Turtuk and Bogdang Valley will get immense benefit with ample job opportunities.
Listening to delegations from Thang, Takshi and Chulungkha villages, Dr. Dawa assured to reflect all their major demands in the district plan and also assured to take up major issues with the Government.
The CEC was accompanied by EC for Education Dorjey Motup, EC for Minorities Mumtaz Hussain, Councilor Turtuk Ghulam Mehdi and district and block level offices and engineers headed by SDM Nubra Sonam Norboo.
