JAMMU, Mar 21: Gandhi Nagar police foiled one another murder plot with the arrest of an associate of Dilbagh Gang along with country made revolver (sixer) and live rounds.
As per police sources, on reliable information about murder plot, a team from Gandhi Nagar Police Station laid a naka near Shastri Nagar Morh and apprehended a suspicious person, who was trying to run away into a bylane on seeing cops.
During checking, police recovered country made pistol (sixer) along with two live rounds from the possession of the person and arrested him.
The arrested person identified as Ajay Sharma, son of Bodh Raj, a resident of Ward Number 4, RS Pura was on his way to eliminate his rival, but police foiled his nefarious designs by putting him behind the bars.
The accused is an associate of Dilbagh Gang, which is active in J&K State since 2009 and is involved in various criminal cases registered with different police stations in J&K and Guwahati.
Various types of criminal cases including attempt to murder cases stand registered against the members of the gang including Ajay Sharma. The kingpin of the Dilbagh Gang identified as Dilbagh Singh, son of Janak Singh of Ward Number 4, Simbal Camp has been booked under Public Safety Act (PSA) and is presently lodged in Rainawari jail in Srinagar.
A fresh case under FIR Number 65/18 under Section 3/25 Arms Act has been registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia and assisted by SI Kali Charan made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas, SP South Sandeep Choudhary and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
It is to mention that, a team from Gandhi Nagar Police Station also foiled a murder bid by arresting a criminal along with country made pistol, 5 live rounds and two magazines yesterday.
