This is in reference to the much talked about Devika Project of Udhampur for which an amount of Rs 170 crore stands sanctioned. Devika is not only a rivulet for preservation but it carries immense religious sanctity being mentioned as elder sister of ‘Moksh Daini Ganga’. Within its premises, it houses memories of erstwhile rulers in the shape of dilapidated conditions of ‘Sarai’ a monument of architectural grandeur. It being site for three days ‘Baisakhi’ affair is frequented by thousands of visitors across the region and from outside. The most important aspect to be kept in mind while preparing DPR is the inflow of all the toileteries of a large populated ward as Shiv Nagar and many shopping complexes and number of hotels and restaurants have come up on the land of the Shiv Mandir Gaddi.
The politicians and self styled well wishers are required to be kept away in this noble cause and a committee of well deserving visionary, social activists, retired fraternity from engineering department, revenue, tourism, forest, sports and anti corruption related bodies much available in town is required to be framed by District Development Commissioner that can contribute selfless services for achieving the desired results by keeping a hawks eye over the functioning of the departments that will be associated with this project. Failing which we cannot rule out drainage of amount of Rs 170 crore meant for the project as experienced in the past for the same cause.
