JAMMU, July 1: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Ashiq Hussain and others regarding issuance of job card to Government employees, students that too minor and dead persons under MNREGA Scheme in connivance with revenue officials, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice Janak Raj Kotwal today directed the State Vigilance Organization to submit fresh status report.
After hearing Senior AAG Seema Shekhar with Deputy AG KS Charak appearing for the State, Division Bench observed, “pursuant to the order dated May 5, the investigating officer in the last one month has visited Gandoh and Gurrekah areas and recorded the statements of as many as ten witnesses”, adding “Senior AAG states that looking to the enormity of the scam and involvement of number of officers in the same, the investigation would require more time”.
Accordingly, Division Bench granted two months time and directed Vigilance Organization to file fresh status report.
