Conference on ‘Recent Trends in Mathematical Sciences’ at SMVDU

KATRA, Feb 13: A UGC sponsored two day national conference on `Recent Trends in Mathematical Sciences’ was organized by Department of Mathematics, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra.
Dr A K. Das, convener of the conference, in his welcome address, explained the theme of the conference.  Prof C K Jaggi, Department of Operational Research, University of Delhi, was the chief guest on the occasion. He stressed that Mathematical analysis should lead to useful conclusions and he delivered his invited talk on Supply Chain Management.
Prof V Verma, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Prof D S. Hooda, Ex Pro-VC, KU Kurukshetra were the guest of honor. Prof. Hooda emphasized on doing the mathematical work rather than reading it.  Prof C B Gupta, Professor, BITS, Pilani,   talked about the diverse applications of Mathematics.
The abstract booklet was released by the dignitaries on the inaugural ceremony. The inaugural session was ended by the vote of thanks delivered by Dr Rakesh Kumar, Organizing Secretary of the conference. Prof. D  S  Hooda, Prof. Shakeel Ahmad Raina (Principal, GDC  Thannamandi), Prof. C B  Gupta, Prof. Romesh Kumar (University of Jammu), Prof. V  Ravichandran (University of Delhi), Prof  K  L  Verma (Dean, Career Point University, Hamirpur), and Dr  Kakali Majumdar (SMVDU),  delivered their invited lectures in the conference. Prof S D Sharma (Central University, Jammu), Prof J P Singh Joorel (University of Jammu), and Prof Pawan Kumar (University of Jammu) were also present in the conference and they acted as session chairs.
Apart from invited lectures, there were contributed paper presentations in the conference. Dr Surender Singh and Dr Sandeep Bhougal were the co-organizing secretaries of the conference.
