CM Grievance Cell to conduct inspection of Jammu hospitals

JAMMU, Dec 5:  Taking cognizance of the complaints against poor medical  facilities, lack of emergency services and mess in the Government run hospitals across Jammu division,  the Chief Minister’s Grievance Cell is going to launch an inspection drive  of all the District and other major hospitals here.
A formal communication in this regard has been forwarded by the Chief Minister’s  Secretariat to  the Director Health Services Jammu asking for advance nomination of one Nodal Officer from the Directorate  for further Coordination with the CM Grievance Cell.
As per the official communiqué, No.  HCH/ JKGCC/ H&HE/10/2017, Jammu/ Srinagar, dated 04-12-2017,  there are complaints of frequent negligence of basic healthcare facilities, lack of  sanitation, unavailability of medical facilities, non-availability  of doctors and other staff, unaccountability, non-availability of ambulances, increasing cases of medical negligence,  lack of emergency service and staff, unaddressed public grievances and unsecured hospital compounds, which have turned into den for drug addicts, illegal parking zones, waste dumping sites and abode of stray dogs.
The Grievance Cell has also prepared the schedule for inspection of some major hospitals in Jammu city, Samba, Kathua,  Udhampur and Reasi. Starting from District Hospital Udhampur, which shall  be inspected on December 9,  the team is scheduled to inspect District Hospital Kathua, District Hospital Reasi, Gandhi Nagar Hospital, district Hospital Samba and Sarwal Hospital on 12th, 14th, 20th, 22nd and 28th of December, respectively.
It may be recalled that the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had  conducted a surprise inspection of Government Medical College Hospital Jammu on November 30 and personally took stock of the sanitation, medical facilities and availability of medicine to the patients. Expressing  displeasure over the poor sanitation in the Hospital, the CM had   on the spot ordered  attachment of Medical Superintendent of the GMC Hospital.
Earlier, during a recent review meeting with Administrative Secretaries, the Chief Minister had directed the Department of Health and Medical Education to take measures for improving the sanitation and service at the Hospital.
Pertinent to mention that Bali Bhagat of BJP is the Minister for Health and Medical Education in Jammu and Kashmir.
