CGPWA holds 23rd Annual General Body Meeting

JAMMU, Apr 23: The 23rd Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) of Central Government Pensioners’ Welfare Association (CGPWA) was held here at Jammu Club today which was co-chaired by its patron VP Sharma and president, SS Wazir.
Nearly 105 CGPWA members including a representative team from Srinagar chapter attended the AGM. About a dozen prominent social activists associated with noted NGOs were special invitees in the vibrant function.
JK Vaid, general secretary of the Association conducted the proceedings and presented the Annual General Report for the year 2017-2018. He also briefed the House on the latest Government orders for the welfare of pensioners, including operation of Pensioners’ Portal for on-line redressal of the pensioners’ grievances on Centralized Pension Grievance Redress and Monitoring System.
SS Wazir, in his address, briefly touched upon the welfare activities being pursued by the Association in service of the civil society, in general and the pensioners and their families, in particular.
KB Jandial, former Member of PSC J&K and a well-known columnist, delivered an informative talk on a live issue of the day: ‘Appointment and Impeachment of Judges in India’. The audience evinced keen interest in the topic and there was a brief interaction in clarification of doubts.
This was followed by a very useful health related presentation by Prof (Dr) KK Sharma on SUJOK Therapy. It is a fast catching therapy which CGPWA wishes to propagate with cooperation and participation of Dr Sharma.
VP Sharma, in his observations, gave a brief historical account of the Association. He also briefed the house on the major achievements of the Association.
GM Wani, Treasure, Kashmir Chapter spoke briefly on activities of the Association at Srinagar and the progress made in opening of new CGHS Wellness Centre there.
Jandial briefed the AGM about the follow-up action on the demands relating to Pensioners, put forth by the Association to the Chief Secretary BB Vyas on National Pension Day.
RL Kampasi, secretary, presented Accounts for 2017-18 on behalf of the Treasurer who was not present at AGM.
Later, Pensioners’ Journal 2018 was released by the patron and president along with other office bearers and copies of the journal distributed to all those present.
The function culminated with vote of thanks by BK Raina, vice president of CGPWA.
