CB arrests PDD employee for fraud

SRINAGAR, July 11: Crime Branch Kashmir arrested employee of Power Development Department (PDD) for fraud.
As per official spokesman, Crime Branch Kashmir received a complaint against Mushtaq Ahmed Malik, son of late Sonaullah Malik of Argam Bandipora, the Senior Assistant in the office of Executive Engineer, Electric Division Sumbal, who has supposedly drawn bills of the department amounting to crores of rupees and credited into his personal account and the accounts of his family members in different banks.
The suspect has managed  to transfer/credit an amount of Rs 5 crore 72 lakh and 52000 in his personal account number and account numbers of his family members and earned an amount of Rs 43.82 lakh as interest in the bank accounts operated by him and his family members in different branches of J&K Bank. The bank accounts unearthed so for stand frozen, spokesman added.
He added that the said suspect has been found to have fraudulently drained an amount of Rs 5 crore, 72 lakh and 52000 thousands from official account number 0089010200012 standing in the name of Executive Engineer Electric Division Sumbal, and credited/transferred dishonestly and fraudulently into 22 account numbers maintained and operated in the name of the accused and his family members.
The spokesman informed that the acts committed and omitted on the part of accused Mushtaq Ahmed Malik, the employee of PDD Division Sumbal, prima-facie disclose commission of offences punishable under Section 420 RPC r/w 5(2) PC Act and accordingly a case under FIR Number 25/18 was registered in Police Station Crime Branch Kashmir.
During investigation, the house search of Mushtaq Ahmed Malik was conducted at Argam Bandipora after obtaining proper search warrant from the Court of Anti-Corruption Srinagar and during search in presence of Magistrate and independent witnesses and lady contingent, important documents relating to the case and appointment orders of officials in PDD were recovered, besides other relevant material like official seals and original certificates of some un-related persons were also recovered.
The spokesman said that the accused Mushtaq Ahmed Malik has been taken into custody and is being questioned, adding that investigation of the case is going on and further searches and arrests are expected.
