JAMMU, Aug 13:  Brief curfew relaxation this evening provided some relief to Jammuites who were seen rushing to markets for purchasing essential items, particularly vegetables and eatables.
Heavy rush was witnessed in the city bazaars where hustle-bustle returned, though for a very brief period, after 66 hours long continuous curfew, which was clamped on Saturday evening following communal tension in the wake of Kishtwar violence.
People, including women, were seen purchasing vegetables, eatables and other essentials items during the relaxation period of three hours.
The curfew was relaxed in the entire city from 4 pm to 7 pm this evening.
However, in several areas, people were unaware of the relaxation till 5 pm as no proper announcement in this regard was made.
As soon as people came to know that curfew restrictions have been relaxed, they thronged the markets for purchasing essentials items and meeting each other besides finishing small tasks. Within few minutes, the bazaars returned to usual rush though only a few shops were seen open. Sabzi Mandi near Parade Ground was the apparent most sought destination of city inhabitants even as very few vegetables were available there.
To avoid any untoward incident during the curfew relaxations, the security personnel remained deployed at every nook and corner of the city.
