Bovines smuggling bid foiled, 18 cattle rescued

JAMMU, Sept 16: Police foiled bovines smuggling bid and rescued 18 cattle from two vehicles at Khuga Morh area, falling under the jurisdiction of Akhnoor police station.
As per police sources, based on reliable information, a team from Akhnoor police station laid a naka at Khuga Morh and signaled two Tata Mobile vehicles bearing registration number JK02BK-5503 and JK02BL-0231 for checking.
On seeing police cops, the drivers accelerated the vehicles and escaped from the spot. Stinking something fishy, the police team chased the vehicles and intercepted them near some distance from the naka point, but the smugglers managed to escape after taking benefit of the darkness.
During checking, police rescued 18 bovine animals and seized both the vehicles.
A case under FIR Number 134/16 under Section 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act has been registered at Akhnoor police station and manhunt has been launched to nab the bovine smugglers.
Police team led by SHO Akhnoor Inspector Pushpinder Singh foiled the bovine smuggling bid under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Gurvinder Pal Singh and SP Rural Arun Gupta.
