BJP holds UPA responsible for plight of SCs in country

JAMMU, Aug 19: Punjab State Khadi & Village Industries Chairman & senior BJP leader, Vijay Sampla said that the plight of the Dalits in India has gone from bad to worst during the present rule of UPA in the country.
Addressing inaugural session of one day Working Committee meeting of BJP Anusuchit Jaati Morcha here today, he said there are many welfare schemes for the upliftment of weaker sections of the society but their benefits do not reach the deserving people. He said the prices of essential items increase day by day with the result a poor person finds it totally difficult to manage even two-time meal for his family.
He said in India, Dalits constitute a major portion of population and majority of them are poor. The price rise has posed threat to their survival, he added.
Mr Sampla said the BJP Anusuchit Jaati Morcha has been taking up the issues of Dalits at every fora and in this context  a “ Dalit Mahasabha” will be held on September 17 at New Delhi to highlight the problems of Dalits across the country.
BJP State President Shamsher Singh Manhas said that the reservation to the SCs in India was granted for ten years initially as those who framed the Constitution were of the belief that during these years the economic level of the SCs will get better but due to lack of will on part of the successive governments the next 20-30 years showed that the target could not be achieved and the Dalits remain as sufferers even today.
He said that BJP and its SC Morcha have been continuously agitating for justice to Dalits and that the party has the distinction of taking a lead role when it comes to raise the voice for SCs.
Earlier, Vijay Sampla, Shamsher Singh Manhas, Bali Bhagat, Ashok Koul, Subash Bhagat, Bansi Lal Bharti, Balbir Ram, Chaman Lal Kanathia, Narsingh Dass Rajwal, Jeet Angral and other SC leaders lighted the traditional lamp and garlanded the portraits of BJP idelogolues.
A resolution tabled by Narsingh Dass Rajwal seconded by Puran Bhagat  was also adopted in the meeting.
The resolution demanded that a bill be introduced for extension of political reservation in the state for next 10 years as the Bill introduced in last budget session of the Legislature was passed in such a casual manner that it deemed to have failed . Present political reservation for the SCs in the Assembly have lapsed in the absence of their extension for next 10 years beyond January 26, 2010, it added.
The resolution, while flaying the Jammu University authorities for not granting admission to those who produce SC certificates under SRO 126 demanded that certificates granted under SRO 126 be considered as the same has been considered valid under SRO 294 itself.
It urged the State Government to evolve a strategy for providing due share in favour of all the reserved categories in the state while regularizing the temporary employees working in various departments.
Morcha also demand due Reservation in Panchayats for the SC community, fresh delimitation of Panchayats and  providing reservation as par with other states in the country. It further demanded scholarships to all the students of SC community without taking their academic marks into consideration, both in Government and private schools. Maintaining that 1947 refugees have maximum population of SCs hence their demands should be fulfilled immediately as they have suffered a lot during these years after independence.
