REASI, Nov 20: After controlling the Municipal Council of Udhampur and two Municipal Committees of Ramnagar and Chenani yesterday, BJP today dominated two more Municipal Committees in Reasi district as its Councilors were elected as presidents and vice presidents of twin Municipal Committees of Reasi and Katra respectively.
The election process was held at the respective offices of two Municipal Committees.
In MC Reasi, BJP’s Sudesh Kumar was elected as president; while its another Councilor Yograj Raina was elected as vice president. Kumar defeated Congress candidate, Amit Sharma by a margin of seven votes. The BJP candidate got 10 votes out of 13 member RMC while Congress candidate got only three votes.
For the post of vice president, Yograj Raina of BJP defeated his rival Congress candidate by a margin of five votes. He got nine votes while the Congress candidate got only four votes.
The entire process was carried out under the supervision of Returning Officer and ACR Reasi, Harbans Sharma, his associates Vinod and Madan and Presiding Authority, Tanya Pandoh.
In MC Katra, BJP’s Shashi Gupta was elected as president while Ajay Baru was elected as the vice president.
Gupta and Baru defeated their Congress rivals, Ravi Naz and Rajesh Sadotra by a margin of five votes each respectively in 13 member KMC.
Both Gupta and Baru got nine votes each while Opposition president and vice president candidates got four votes each.
The closely monitored election process was held under the supervision of SDM Katra, Ashok Choudhary and CEO Katra MC, Jagdish Mehra.
It may be recalled that yesterday BJP won the post of chairman and vice chairman of Municipal Council Udhampur and posts of president and vice president in MCs of Chenani and Ramnagar.
