The Director General of Police has lived by the old saying ‘Charity begins at home.’ The drive launched by the top cop of J&K Police against beacon lights from his home department will serve as an example for others. The implementation of Supreme Court order is a move towards narrowing class differences in the society. The ‘Lal Bati’ has class assumed an air of importance and would not care about those who have no such privilege.
The commonman feels harassed whenever he see a beacon fitted vehicle coming from a distance. Used as a status symbol, the privileged lot has most of the time taken undue advantage of it.
The Government officials who have been using it, should now without making any fuss, get beacons light removed on their own.
