MENDHAR, Apr 12: An Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) was today attached after he ran over two bikes causing serious injury to a person and damaging public property.
The incident took place when ASI Mohd Latief , who did not know driving properly, tried to start and remove a wrongly parked Tata Sumo ( JK-12/3345) near Mendhar Bus Stand from the site. The vehicle went out of control and hit two parked bikes and rammed into a Dhaba. At least five persons had miraculous escape while one Mohd Riaz, son of Mian, resident of Galuta sustained serious injuries and was removed to SDH Mendhar.
The people got furious over the act of ASI who sensing trouble disappeared from the scene. Surprisingly, Mendhar Police did not register any FIR against the cop. SDPO, Mendhar Shahid Nahiem when contacted said that ASI has been attached and an inquiry has been initiated in this regard.
