JAMMU, Oct 7: An ex-servicemen rally was organised by Army at Tanda, Akhnoor Military Station with an aim to reach out to war veterans, `Veer Naris’ and widows and solve their problems related to pension anomalies, health and resolution of grievances and for extending legitimate benefits under schemes offered by Adjutant General’s Branch of Army Headquarters.
A defence spokesman said that to make this noble endeavour meaningful, a holistic approach was adopted wherein a dedicated Pension Anomaly Cell was established well in advance to proactively seek and address anomalies related to pension of Ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and widows. This task involved reaching out to all affected personnel in Akhnoor Sub Division and taking up their cases with concerned agencies to expedite their legitimate dues. Total of 853 Ex-servicemen were approached and total 61 cases were identified with pension anomalies.
Similarly, a large number of individuals were provided welfare benefits under the Rehabilitation & Welfare Directorate of Adjutant General’s branch which included assistance for daughter’s marriage for one widow, children education for two children of Ex-servicemen and computer grant for one child of Ex-servicemen. In addition to it, physically disabled Ex-Servicemen were also provided mobility equipment to ameliorate their medical issues.
On the spot welfare measures on the rally day was also planned that included Health Camp providing expert Medical Cover and advice by special teams of Cardiologist, Gynecologist, ENT Specialist, Ortho Specialist, Ophthalmologist and Medical Specialists.
Prior to conduct of the rally a concerted drive was undertaken to register maximum ex-servicemen for Aadhar linked `Jeevan Praman’ for facilitating Digital Life Certification for pensioners. Pensioners were also registered on Directorate of Indian Army Veterans (DIAV) Portal for ensuring direct benefits and prompt response.
Maj Gen, MK Mago, General Officer Commanding, Crossed Swords Division was the chief guest on the occasion. Chairperson, FWO, Crossed Swords Division interacted with the Veer Naris and also felicitated them. The rally was attended by officials from Rajya Sainik Board, Civil Administration, different Departments of State Govt, DPDO, Banks, ECHS and representatives of pension establishment.
