Amit Shah, Dr Jitendra to attend Manipur CM’s oath ceremony

NEW DELHI, Mar 14: BJP National President Amit Shah and Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh will attend the high profile oath ceremony at Imphal tomorrow, of the first-ever BJP Government in Manipur led by Chief Minister designate, N Biren Singh.
The event assumes special significance in the light of the fact that this is for the first time that BJP is going to form a Government in a State where, in the past, not a single MLA from BJP was ever elected to the Legislative Assembly.
Speculation is that BJP National General Secretary (Org.) Ram Lal will also attend the oath ceremony.
Speaking to media persons here today, Dr Jitendra Singh said, notwithstanding what some of opposition leaders are saying, the matter of fact is that BJP obtained maximum vote share in the recently held Manipur Assembly poll and other legislators supporting the BJP also contested the election on anti-Congress plank. This, he said, implies that considering the sense and spirit of mandate, BJP is the natural choice for forming Government and by doing so, it will also be an acknowledgement of the popular will of the people of the State.
Another important feature of the historic verdict given by the people of Manipur, Dr Jitendra Singh said, is that the State which was considered peripheral and some viewed it somewhat distant from the national mainstream, has emphatically asserted its will to be a part of national mainstream under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Meanwhile, a deputation of Telangana Banking Employees Association called on Dr Jitendra Singh today and sought his intervention for regularisation of the casual officials working in different banks of the State over the last several years. Dr Jitendra Singh gave them a patient hearing and said, he would put up their case before the Ministry of Finance.
