JAMMU, Mar 16: Agriculture Technocrats of the State Agriculture Production Depart-ment today called on Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone and projected their demands before him.
They were demanding inclusion of seven to nine years of service and benefits of old pension scheme with effect from April 2007, to reconsider pay grade 9300-34800+4200 to revised pay band of 9300-34800 with applicable Grade Pay of 4280 at par JAEOs and amend service Rules by inclusion of the cadre of the newly created VAEA’s.
The delegation met the minister under banner of Jammu & Kashmir Agriculture Technocrats Association led by senior leaders of Employees Joint Action Committee and State president of JKATA, Dr Surinder Radotra.
The team also submitted a memorandum to the minister. He disclosed that Agriculture Graduates and Post Graduates and even some doctorates were engaged as ReZ (Rehbar-E-Zirat) during 2007 and were regularized on the post of Village Agriculture Extension Assistants instead of Junior Agriculture Extension Officers on 1st Apr, 2014 in Agriculture Department.
The minimum qualification for the post of JAEO is graduation in the field of Agriculture and due to this reason many graduates are working as JAEO’s in the Agriculture department. On the analogy of graduates and post graduates even doctorates working as VAEA’s may also be placed as JAEO’s on the basis of equity, justice and fairness in the Department. The pay grades should also be revised. Moreover, pension benefits should also be accorded to the Agriculture technocrats, Radotra maintained.
The Minister gave a patient hearing to the demands and assured positive action in this regard.
