SRINAGAR:  A former five time legislator Peerzada Ghulam Jeelani died here.    A member of the Constituent Assembly of Jammu and Kashmir, Peerzada served as MLA for four consecutive terms from 1951 to 1967.

He was over 80.

He was also a nominated MLC from 1967-1972. Peerzada was also Nishan Dehenda of the holy relic of Peer Dastgeer Sahab (RA) at Khanyar shrine.        Peerzada was also Nishan Dehenda of the holy relic of Peer Dastgeer Sahab (RA) at Khanyar shrine.

Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti  has condoled the demise of veteran political stalwart, Peerzada of Pampore who left for heavenly abode last evening.

Lauding the contribution of Peerzada   in the religious, social and political spheres of Jammu and Kashmir, Ms  Mehbooba said his immense contribution in social and economic uplift of his people would be remembered long.

Expressing solidarity with the bereaved family, the Chief Minister prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.      Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly also paid tributes to Peerzada and observed two minutes silence today. (AGENCIES)
