POONCH, Sept 19: At least a dozen LoC villages in Balakote area of Mendhar Sub Division are without telephone connectivity for the last two weeks.
The villagers of the area in a complaint to the SDM Mendhar, Dr Tanveen Ahmed have revealed that about 12 villages which are located on that side of the LoC fencing have been provided WLL facility by the BSNL authorities. They do not have any other kind of cellular phone connectivity.
For the last fortnight, there is sudden break down in the system and the concerned BSNL authorities have not taken necessary measures to restore the service although they were informed about the matter some time back. About 150 WLL connections have been provided by the company in the area. The consumers are badly affected with it. In case of emergency in the villages the people turn helpless as the Army gates at fencing are closed in the evening and are opened only after dawn.
