VIJAYPUR, Dec 6: Senior State vice president of National Conference and former Minister Surjeet Singh Slathia today assailed the PDP-BJP alliance for letting down people, especially youth and said that the growing public disenchantment was reflection of the failures of Government on all the fronts.
“The youth are dismayed while the people belonging to all segments of society are at the receiving end due to mis-governance and non-performance of the Government”, Mr Slathia said while addressing a day-long convention of the Youth National Conference workers at Vijaypur.
The convention was attended by the workers from all over the Samba district who discussed problems pertaining to the youth and overall situation arising in the wake of vision-less policies of the present dispensation.
Mr Slathia said the tall claims of the present dispensation have got exposed, as the coalition partners were working at cross purposes with public interest taking rear seat. Mr Slathia said that the contradictions between the two coalition partners have accumulated, as a result of which development has been pushed to backburner, welfare schemes almost abandoned and the utility services left unattended. He expressed anguish over scarcity of rations at the depots, erratic power and water supply besides delay in providing relief to the rain and flood hit people of Vijaypur constituency.
The former Minister referred to the growing unemployment problem and lamented over the Government showing insensitivity towards their sufferings and said the coalition from day one adopted anti-youth policies which were reflected in the introduction of the ill-conceived job policy.
The newly nominated District president of Youth National Conference, Riaz Malik said that the workers will work like foot-soldiers of the party to further strengthen it at the grass root level.
Among others, who spoke on the occasion, included youth vice presidents, Karandeep Singh, Sudershan Singh and Yogeshwar Singh, joint secretaries Harvinder Singh, Ajay Singh Slathia, Jorawar Singh Slathia and Kulvinder Singh.
