Recruitment of teachers

Sir,
This has reference to the news item ‘Govt going to amend rules for recruitment of teachers DE May 11.
Though late, it is a welcome step. The step taken by the Government is quite essential to improve the educational standard in the Government schools in the State. These schools have come under sharp criticism from all sections of society for their poor performance. And a result of it, parents think twice before sending their children to these schools.
Though there are many reasons for falling standard of education in Government schools, one of the major reasons is recruitment of 10+2 qualified  teachers “ while in other parts of the country, B.Ed degree is mandatory for seeking a teachers job in the schools the same is not true of schools in the State. In this State, merit has been replaced by nepotism, regionalism and such petty considerations. The appointment of RETs gave further setback to education. The Government has never taken education as a serious subject. No serious attention has been paid to modify curriculum, improve infrastructure and other facilities in these schools. These schools are mere structures and not schools in true sense.
A sincere efforts needs to be done to improve the quality of education.
Yours etc…..
