Protests, clashes in Srinagar, Sopore

Srinagar, Feb 17: Protesters clashed with security forces in Srinagar and Sopore today after youth pelted stones on them post Friday prayers.
After the culmination of congregational Friday prayers at Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta area of the city, locals took to the streets to protest against the civilian killings in Kashmir. They pelted stones on the security forces, who were deployed there.
Police and CRPF intercepted the protesters, triggering clashes. Security forces fired several rounds of tear-gas canisters to disperse the protesters.
Clashes erupted between protesters and security forces in North Kashmir’s Sopore town after Friday prayers.
Groups of protesters tried to march from Jamia Masjid area but were stopped by the security forces already deployed in strength in the area.
Security forces fired teargas to disperse the protesters, who were pelting stones.
