Pensioners submit memorandum of demands to Finance Minister

JAMMU, Sept 22: J&K State Pensioners Association (SPA) has appealed the State Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu for immediate release of six percent DA installment from July 2015 in cash in favour of State pensioners and the employees.
In a memorandum, submitted to the Finance Minister, the Pensioners Association has also demanded immediate payment of arrears for six percent DA installment pertaining to the period from January 2009 to pre-2006 pensioners, enhancement in monthly Medical Allowance, revise pension by 20 to 100 percent after 80 to 100 years of age and expedite clarification sought by the Accountant General for revision of some pensions, retired between the period from 1-1-1996 to 19-2-2003.
According to Krishan Singh, president of the Pensioners Association, the hardships of the pensioners, most of whom are aged and infirm, suffering from multiple problems, more particularly in view of sky rocketing prices of essential commodities.
We people need preferential care and compassion but in J&K State, the pensioners are unfortunate being ignored and deprived from their due benefits by the successive Government,” he lamented and laid stress for speedy redressal of their grievances.
