JAMMU, Dec 19:  Chairman Chinar Power Projects Workers Union District Kishtwar, Joginder Bhandari has strongly criticised the authorities of National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) for violating the MoU agreement of Dul Hasti Project reached between the NHPC and State Government.
Bhandari said in the agreement it was clearly mentioned that the NHPC will provide supply of power, road connectivity, drainage system, hospital, free education, drinking water, bus facility to school going children, employment to affected land owners, schlorship etc within the radious of five kilometer of Dul Hasti Project but it is a matter of great concern that no such facility was provided since the project is generating 390 MW power and revenue of crores of rupees yearly to Central Government.
Bhandari said that the local children reading in KV school on tuition fee basis have been denied bus service for which the children have to walk several kilometers to reach the school which has caused a brewing resentment among the locals.
He also said that employment in the said project was provided to outsiders at the cost of those whose land has been acquired for the said project even the land occupied on rent basis at Dool Dam site for CISF purpose has not been paid rent since its occupation.
Bhandari further said that since the land of the local people were occupied by the NHPC for this project but they have not been given any type of benefit and the employees from outside the State are enjoying luxurious life, twenty four hour power and drinking water facilities and the locals have been forced to fetch drinking water after covering a long distance, said Bhandari.
