The objective of the workshop is to generate awareness among the educational institutions, Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVK), civil society, potential applicants, agriculture institutions, Government departments and other stakeholders in Jammu and Kashmir about the community radio.
The workshop will also provide an overview on basic principle of Community Radio Station, ownership, capacity building, content generation, technology, management and sustainability issues. Besides, the audience will be also informed about the Community Radio application, license process and other related issues.
Pertinently, out of 200 Community Radio Stations operational across the country, there is only one such station in J&K. The State has 18 Community Radio dark districts. As per Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting guidelines every district in the State has to have at least two such radio stations.
