Shamsher calls on Paswan

NEW DELHI, Oct 6: Member Parliament Rajya Sabha, Shamsher Singh Manhas called on Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Ram Vilas Paswan here today and projected various demands of ration and sugar.
Manhas said after the launch of NFSA in the State of Jammu and Kashmir down trodden, deprived people are getting benefit of this scheme as per the required norms. He said topography of Jammu province is different from Kashmir region and major part is hilly terrain.
Its difficult for the authorities to provide ration on time to these far flung areas. He asked the Union Minister to release the ration quota of the Sate on time so that it can be distributed timely.
Manhas also discussed the issue of fair price shops and highlighted the difficulties being faced by the city fair price shop ration dealers. Ration supplied through fair price shops are facing hardship due to nominal commission prescribed by the FCA & CA Department of the State and their families facing threat to survival under present conditions.
He said the Government sale depot employees are being provided with salary, rent of the shop, electricity charges & all measures for weight etc. & the sale depot are getting free ration from the depts. & they deposit the money after sales where these fair price shop owners deposit in advance. As NFSA was implemented in the State in February 2016 they have not received commission of the same till date. As in NFSA rule dealer’s commission is 143/quintal. He demanded release of commission in favour of dealers up to date so that they can meet their needs. He said timely supply of ration be provided in the State in the interest of registered consumers.
