EC involves NSS for enrollment of voters

JAMMU, Nov 12: As part of Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participations (SVEEP), Deputy Chief Electoral Officer (DyCEO) Charandeep Singh held detailed discussion with the NSS Programme Officers of different colleges and schools.
Mr Singh called upon them to enroll youth as voters as summary revision of electoral rolls was currently in progress. The Election Commission of India has already extended the voter revision from October 30 to November 20, he said, adding there was ample time for the youth, who have turned 18, to enroll themselves as voter and get a chance to participate in the electoral exercise.
Mr Singh and his team distributed forms for enrollment as voters among the Programme Officers of NSS and sought their cooperation in creating awareness among the people about their right to franchise especially among those, who haven’t enrolled themselves as voter so far.
The NSS Programme Officers assured their full cooperation to the Deputy Chief Electoral Officer that they would do their best to enroll as much voters as possible during summary revision of electoral rolls.
The Election Commission has launched drive to enroll voters during summary revision of electoral rolls and had even extended date of revision from October 30 to November 20.
