JAMMU, Apr 1: State president of Shri Ram Sena, Rajiv Mahajan today demanded New Delhi to immediately delink Jammu and Ladakh from Kashmir to end discrimination with the people of these two regions.
“We have our own political, social and economical aspirations which cannot be met under the 70-year-old Kashmir dominated dispensation so we are ready to part ways from Kashmir and carve our separate State for Jammu,” Rajiv Mahajan said while talking to media persons, here today. He further claimed that separate Jammu State and Union Territory status for Ladakh region would end militant activities in the State.
Mahajan slammed BJP for putting Jammu’s interests and development subservient to the pleasure of Kashmir based political party for remaining stuck to power. “The partnership of the ruling alliance parities san unity as a result of which people of the State in general and the Jammu region in particular are suffering on account of development,” he added.
He challenged the State BJP leadership, particularly its ministers to list their achievements with regard to fulfilling the developmental needs of the Jammu region.
“Despite being in power at the Centre and in the State, the party failed miserably on governance front and let down Jammu on all fronts”, he said adding that the BJP has nothing to showcase as its achievement, least to fulfilling liberal promises during elections.
On the progress of mega development projects in Jammu, Rajiv Mahajan alleged that all the projects were moving at snail’s pace, be it expansion of Jammu Airport and extension of Runway, multi-tier parking and commercial complex proposed to be constructed at General Bus Stand Jammu, development of Tawi River Front, construction of protection works, water treatment plants, development of reclaimed land into recreational areas and development of tourist facilities along the banks of River Tawi, sewage project for Jammu city, multi-level parking facility at City Chowk Jammu, construction of barrage on River Tawi, Jammu Ropeway Project from Peerkho to Bahu Fort, construction of Ring Road around Jammu, construction of new Medical Colleges in Jammu region, four-laning of Jammu-Akhnoor road, etc.
