Car plunges into canal, driver dies

JAMMU, Oct 5: A man reportedly an employee of Government Dental College, Jammu was killed when a car which he was driving plunged into a canal in Gangyal area of city outskirts, late last night.
According to a police official, some passersby informed the police late last night that a Wagon-R car bearing registration number JK02BU-6438 had plunged into a canal at Bandurakh near Ranjeet College.
A police team immediately reached the spot and evicted the ill fated vehicle from the canal. However, no person was found in the car and in the canal despite search operation. Today morning when the search operation was again launched, a dead body was found from the canal at some distance from the accident site.
The deceased was identified as Gurvinder Singh (38) son of Dhavinder Singh, resident of Gangyal. After completing all medico-legal formalities, his body was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites while a case in this connection was registered at police station Gangyal.
