The Commanding Officer of the 4-JAKLI Colonel Bhanwar Singh while giving details about the foiling of the BAT strike said that at around 8.40 hours, the Army foiled a BAT attempt along the LoC. “This is near our own Kaman Post where it took place. The BAT team had crossed around 400 metres inside the LoC. They were aiming to target our posts and the patrols. Their movement was picked by our alert troops. After picking up the movement, the fire fight ensued wherein two terrorists were eliminated by our troops. They were engaged by using UBGL, machine guns and other weapons which we have. We have recovered war like stores”, he said.
Colonel Singh said that the combing operation in the area is going on as Army expects that more militants may be present in the area. “We expect some more terrorists in the vicinity if it was a BAT team. Since the combing operation is on and the forest is thick it will take us some time to sanitise the area”, he said.
The Army officer said that the BAT tried to target Army posts near the LoC. “They tried to target our posts. We recovered huge quality of arms and ammunition from two terrorists and we have recovered the dead bodies”, he said.
The encounter took place in the morning. The posts where encounter took place is near our posts. Mostly in BAT action they target LoC posts”, he said.
